RARE E.W. ADAMS BRASS EIGHT DAY WALL CLOCK. Rare E.W. Adams Brass Eight-day New Hampshire Style Wall Clock. Ht. 32″ Less than a dozen of these are known. E.W. Adams (Former partner in Marshall & Adams) labeled clocks were made for less than two years (1836-37). The E.W. Adams label was overpasted on a large Marshall & Adams Label. The movement is one of the high quality New York State brass strap examples. The dial and label are extra fine. The period mirror (original?) has several minor cracks in the upper left hand corner. A very nice example of a very rare clock. dial – 8″”We are pleased to have a very unusual collection of clocks to present at this auction. They come from one outstanding 40 year collection numbering in the hundreds of clocks. The consignor is selling duplicates and some early examples when he first began collecting. What is unusual about the collection is the condition. He was always interested in original Tablets even on the inexpensive clocks. No matter what the value of the clock all were chosen for their originality. All clock movements were fully reconditioned and then not run to preserve them. A few may need cleaning as they were done forty years ago. All Tablets are original with some having minor restoration except for two that were among his first clocks. All Dials are original to the clock; some having very minor restoration. The Cases have been carefully reconditioned – any veneer chips have been repaired without disturbing the rest of the old or original finish. Most of these repairs will not be evident without very close inspection.” 15.5″W x 42.5″H x 5″D. Estimated Value$2,000 – 3,000.
