French, 18th century, heavy cast bronze construction, urn finial, female head above enameled dial marked “Robinet/Paris” (Pierre Robinet, clockmaker, born 1751), brass works include calendar movement, floral swags, strapwork and basket of grapes drop finial, dial enameled front and back, back of dial marked “Barbezat” (photo of back of dial accompanies lot), fine gilt filigree hands, with pendulum and crank-type key, 28-1/2 x 14 in., generally good condition, proper right ribbon loose (lacking screw), door on back with one hinge and replaced pin, pendulum glass probably replaced, red fabric side panels faded and worn The Collection of the Late Leonard F. Clayton, Hendersonville, North Carolina Elie Barbezat was among the best of the Parisian enamellists, specializing in clock dials. He produced his best-known work 1768-1776.
