Good French Gilt-Bronze Wall Clock, third quarter 19th century, in the Louis XVI taste, of stylized cartouche form, the white enamel dial signed in black “Julien Leroy/ a Paris”, with a convex glass dial cover and retaining the gilded “Apollo Masque” pendulum, h. 27″, w. 15″.

Condition report

Not a period clock (in the Louis-XVI STYLE) Note that the “Julien Leroy” signature on this clock is spurious and the clock is, as described, a 19th century clock in the style of Leroy. The enamel dial with a small flake chip adjacent to the key hole on the right, otherwise good condition. Bell and key present, the works not signed. Convex glass with scattered tiny nicks at outermost edge. Gilt surfaces with varying degrees of oxidation, some having a “rose gold” hue. The back and door of gilt-brass sheeting. This sheeting is, also, found in the recessed side panels (some denting here, one panel replaced with unguilded brass sheeting and another panel with a small rent). ***We make no representation that any time piece is in working order.
