A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE NAPOLEON III BRONZE AND MARBLE CHIMING WALL CLOCK last quarter 19th century. The bronze movement with West Minster chimes contained in portico shape case flanked by a standing figure of Aphrodite on the left and Adonis on the right below a reticulated crest of winged cherubs and recumbent dragons, the base with reticulated florals and scrolled brackets above a winged bearded bronze facial mask. Height 48 inches, width 27 inches. CONDITION REPORT: This piece is in fair condition with some damage and disrepair including but not limited to the following: two columns at front cracked in half with repair. Marble panels at bottom corners loose with some losses, metal mounts at base loose, reticulated bronze piece at base with facial mask is loose and partially detached corner returns of mouldings at top and bottom case slightly bent and/or mishapen. Rear marble columns and bronze mounts loose, some losses and or repairs to limestone substrate on base. Arm of bronze figure in right hand niche loose. Decorative wing on right rear has pulled out studs and loose from case. Should be considered “as found” condition and needing restoration.
