American Ansonia “Capitol”, oak wall clock, c. 1893, a stately timepiece with elegant flourishes, finials and pendant finials extend above and below carved columns, the crown is adorned with a gilded bust of a Romanesque woman, two winding arbors, discoloration of dial is consistent with age, crack to side inspection pane of glass, original beat scale, operating, with key, 55″l, 15″w, 7″d, 22.5lbs -*** Provenance: the clock was won during the 1893 “Paris Exposition”, consignor purchased the clock from the great grandson of the original owner, NOTE: Ansonia name is stamped on the front of the clock works immediately behind the face and shown in photo images 4 & 6
