Mahogany “Brooklyn” Lever Spring Shelf Clock by Joseph Ives, Brooklyn, New York, c. 1825-30, with 10 1/2 in. dia. paper on iron dial with Roman numerals signed “Joseph Ives, New York”, polished pewter bezel, veneered mid section and supporting columns over the lower box with printed maker’s label inside stating in part, “Manufactured by Joseph Ives, Brooklyn, Long-Island, New-York”, reverse painted glass in hinged door, ball feet and eight-day wrought brass wagon spring movement with count wheel strike and recoil escapement, ht. 28 1/4 in.

Condition report

Condition: original pewter winding drum restored, original still with the clock, new glass in upper bezel, repainted lower glass, minor losses on paper dial around the perimeter barely visible when the bezel is closed, case refinished, lacking lower escutcheon.
