with heavy brass frame supporting thick beveled glass front, back and sides; time and strike brass movement is marked “J. E. Caldwell & Co. / Philadelphia” and “Made in France” over “887877”; a hand-painted porcelain dial with Roman numerals is signed “J. E. Caldwell & Co.” and encircles a central medallion depicting Eros and Psyche; additional classical decorative elements include applied brass hippocamps, griffins and putti.

Two unobtrusive edge fractures on back glass panel; some light age stains to brass.
