mahogany with brass inlaid spandrels, face marked faintly “Haley London”, brass-inlaid chamfered corners, brass ball feet, back cover with glass window, fabric-covered side windows, fusee movement, brass pendulum marked faintly “Haley”, with key, Charles Haley worked 1770-1800 this example probably by his son, 1825-1830, 18-3/4 x 12 x 6-1/2 in. Original face with overall light crazing, minor chips at key ports, case with scattered separations and losses, several extra pieces of molding present, top of finial off but present, fabric at side windows with wear and losses. Provenance: A Georgia Private Collection Charles Haley was a prominent clockmaker and a patentee of the [remontoire] escapement.
