bronze pediment with Archimedes (187-212 B.C.) seated behind table with gargoyle mounts and clock below, implements on table including square and scroll marked “Un Point D’appui et je Suleverai Le Mond” (Give me a fulcrum and I shall move the world), polished slate base with scroll and paw mounts, with key and pendulum, French, 19th century, 17-1/2 x 22-3/4 x 8 in. Old mellow patinated surface with traces original gilding, one scroll mount off but present, glass back with small crack, other minor chips to slate base, wire replacement implement in hand.
