Federal American James Cross Case on Case Striking Shelf Clock. The circa 1810 clock has a finely made original 8 day brass bell hourly striking movement in running condition and the original 7 ?” painted dial which is signed on the front J. Cross Rochester. The mahogany case has a clean old polished finish and retains the original brass escutcheon. The secondary wood is pine. The reverse painted tablet has been replaced and is by Tom Moberg. The interior of the top door has been supported by an old repair and the swans neck pediment has been re glued with a small added support on the back. The hinge screws on the top door are visible in the front and the wooden pendulum bar has an old glued and wrapped twine repair. All in all this is quite a rare clock by a regional maker.
