AN EARLY OGEE SHELF CLOCK, Birge, Mallory & Co., Bristol, Connecticut, c. 1830. The rectangular mahogany case houses an 8-day brass, 2-weight, time & strike movement powered by two internally suspended cast iron weights, the door tablet with “Tree of Temperance” tinted lithograph behind glass, the wooden dial above with gold accents around black roman numerals. Height 32 inches. Movement stamped “B M & CO”; interior paper label reads “PATENT BRASS / EIGHT-DAY / CLOCKS / MADE AND SOLD BY / BIRGE, MALLORY & CO / BRISTOL, CONN.”
