This porcelain and Dore bronze mantel clock epitomizes the Sevres style popular during the 19th century. A porcelain urn with bronze scroll and fleur de le juxtaposed with stylized Aladdin urn finials crown the arched frieze accentuating this French design time piece. The circular porcelain dial rests between Corinthian capital columns adorned with inset porcelain pillars sections all augmenting the central interior courting scene with dog and courtesan accompaniment all rising above bronze grotesque mask. On reverse a glazed door reveals the Manoah Rhodes-Bradford mechanism and AF mark of Alfred Faulkner (Carver Street, Sheffield). Manoah Rhodes of Morley, Yorkshire 1810 was indentured to Bradford silversmith John Allot owner of the works for fourteen years becoming Mayor of Bradford 1873-1874. Measures approximately 20″ height x 11 1/4″ width x 6 3/4″ depth (50.1cm x 17.1cm x 17.1cm). This item is being relisted due to a non-paying bidder Samet Bagcivan from Connecticut.
