Jacob Petit, Paris, Lavishly Gilded Porcelain Mantel Clock, of small size in high Napoleon III style, third quarter 19th century, the circular enamel dial surmounted by a leering Mephistopheles masque and flanked by a pair of gilded, bare-breasted termes, signed on the interior of the case: “J.P.”, the interior backplate of the movement touchmarked: “GX”, in entwined script, h. 13″, w. 7″‘, d. 6-1/4″.
