Unusual French “Napoleon” Mantel Clock, fourth quarter 19th century, composed of bronze-patinated brass and patinated bronze in the First Empire style, with gilt-brass mounts, the square-section case surmounted by a patinated bronze bust of the Emperor in ancient Roman headdress, the gilt-brass dial in the form of a draped Napoleonic shield, the whole supported on four gilded displayed Napoleonic eagles, h. 21-1/4″, w. 9-1/4″, d. 8-1/2″.

Condition report

Bronze bust of Napoleon well cast with crisp facial detail and laurel wreath. Slight oxidation to the flat sides and back of bust, central portion, face and the surrounding Napoleonic shield. Roman numeral chapters good with XII and VI being old placements. Gilt ormolu exhibits slight oxidation. The works and bell remain. Key lacking. We make no representation that any timepiece is in working order.
