Lafayette Mantel Clock with Reverse Portrait on Glass, mahogany case with japanned half columns and scrolled crest, flanked by plinths in original finish, tablet with polychrome painted portrait of Lafayette with gilt scroll work surround, hand-painted polychrome wooden dial with floral center and spandrels, Roman numerals, 30-hour time and strike wooden works with original printed paper label E.K. Jones Bristol Conn. For O. Hart, Waterloo, N.Y., ca 1820s – 1830s, 16.5″ x 5″ x 32.5″ high.

Undoubtedly made to commemorate Lafayette’s visit to the U.S. in 1824.
