Fusee Musical Empire Mantel Clock, with 3 1/2-inch engine-turned Roman dial, two-train movement with silk suspension and countwheel strike on two bells, in sculptural gilt-bronze case depicting the Allegory of Music as classical female figure with lyre beside plinth with musical manuscript unveiled, and rectangular base with egg-and-dart borders, decorated with rosettes, scrolls and garlands in relief, on oval mahogany base with ormolu mounts of a fountain flanked by drinking swans, with beaded lip and controls engraved Silence / Musique, Continue Musique and Autre / Meme, the three-air fusee cylinder movement with sectional comb, teeth in groups of three and bass teeth on the left, instant stop and finger-press to release the movement, the underside with handwritten program No. 516, Terpsuore (?), 3 Airs, l’Orage Sale, Allemande and Grande Anglaise, under glass dome, total ht. 20 in., cylinder 6 3/4 in.
Note: There are two treble teeth and two tips broken. The movement is in good and apparently unrestored playing condition.
