French Empire gilt metal mantel clock

circa 1850

The rectangular case surmounted by a bust of Socrates, with applied and cast foliate decoration, raised on four bracket feet.
H: 20 1/2 in.

PROVENANCE:

By repute, purchased from the Joseph Bonaparte estate which was auctioned in Bordentown, New Jersey in 1847.
