ANSONIA MERCURY MANTEL CLOCK. Cast metal mantel clock, rectangular black painted metal base on four hairy paw fee with classical corner caps, center cast cartouche, cast figure of seated ”Mercury” with shield and winged helmet on left, clock sits on right side with two drop side pendants and top finial. Beveled glass face plate, enameled clock face in gilt surround, elaborate gilt hands. Key wind pendulum movement, 1/2 hour strike. Marked: clock works marked: Ansonia Clock Co. Patented June 14 1881 New York USA Patented June 18 1882 6 1/2. Size: 17 1/2”L, 14”H, 7 1/2”D. Condition: loss of one wing from helmet, top part of finial missing, no key, sold as is.
