A. Waygand, Paris Figural Mantel Clock, bronze and slate with enameled dial having radial Roman numerals on chapter ring and minute ticks in outer ring with dots for each ten minute mark, winding squares below center just next to IV & VII. Brass time and strike spring-driven movement marked A. Waygand, Paris in oval and 1783/C with original pendulum and key. Case is carved and highly polished black slate and has cast bronze hinged bezel in front and rear, each with beveled glass. Case is surmounted with an unmarked cast bronze figure of Roman lady in classical robes, resting on floral decorated pillow and leaning on broken column with a scroll in hand on ground with vining ivy leaves, all with two-toned patination, 7″ x 17″ x 17.25″ high.
