RARE GRANDFATHER’S CLOCK SIGNED “A. S. HOTCHKISS, NEW YORK”. (Andrew Steven Hotchkiss, 1859-1872. Hotchkiss also built the works and clock inside of the clock tower building at the Rock Island Arsenal in 1867). Mahogany and flame veneer with an old refinishing. Pine secondary wood. Gothic form with bracket feet, double inset panels on the base and a molded waist. Matching door with glass pane. Unusual large engraved face with the minute dial around the edge, small hour dial and second dial in between. Brass works. Mercury filled cut glass pendulum, wind up key, door key and weight. 119″h.
