BAIRD OF LONDON, MAHOGANY GRANDFATHER CLOCK, 1790, H 94″:Figured mahogany; fluted flanking columns and half columns; brass ball and spire flanking finials; bell chime; second hand; silent or strike dial; date indicator. Provenance on index card inside of clack states that the clock was purchased at the Dr. Bradle Harris estate sale of Sept. 11, 1997 with Mrs. Harris having purchased it from the Newton estate on Huron St. (Mrs. Newton was curator for Greenfield Village for Henry Ford).
Condition report
According to Ernest DuMouchelle the works need the rocker arm to be reconnected in order to operate; 2 weights ( iron) attached to and inside the clock; Ernest DuMouchelle thought that there is a pendulum; no keys; molding missing at the bottom; some cracks in wood at the top; cracked glass in right hood side panel.
