INLAID GRANDFATHER’S CLOCK BY SIMON WILLARD. Chippendale case. Mahogany with an old finish. Inlay consists of stringing and fans. Ogee feet, base molding, and moldings between sections with a molded edge door and fluted quarter columns. Bonnet has fluted quarter columns, molded arch cornice, and fretwork with fluted plinths. Brass trim with stop fluting and eagle finials. Brass works with calendar movement, second hand, and a painted steel face. Unusual rocking ship in the arch is flying an American flag. Face is labeled “S. Willard”. Center plinth and fretwork restored. Minor restorations to feet and age splits in the base. Pine secondary wood. Includes weights, pendulum, and key.
