This massive hall clock was manufactured in London, England by J.J. Elliott, LTD famous for these tubular giants. The bonnet top is fitted with rocaille, carved pediment, dentil moulded frieze and four fluted pilasters housing an 8 day, naturalistic design, gilt metal and painted moon face dial with secondary dials reporting Silent/Strike and Whittington/Westminster chiming mechanism. Continuing down the case with original, mahogany finish has three, oval, beveled glass panes, Corinthian, fluted columns flanking the hinged door opening to accommodate nine tubular bells, 3 brass weights and pendulum. Standing on raised base with repeating foliage design and paw feet this is a magnificent example of a transitional Rococo Neoclassical period time piece. Measures 103″ height x 28 1/2″ width x 19″ depth (261.6cm x 72.3cm x 48.2cm).
