Marble plinth embellished with bronze ormolu, surmounted by figure of mercury resting on rocky formation over cylindrical clock and holding gilded bronze lidded touchier. Enamel clock dial inscribed ” Courvoisier Comp”. French hallmarks on silver figure of Mercury.

Damage to enamel dial at numeral “4”. No bell or pendulum. # 449 on works. Good quality gilded bronze ormolu with undercutting and good detail. FRENCH NEO-CLASSICAL GILT BRONZE AND SILVERED FIGURAL CLOCK mid 19th century, “Mercury with Torch ere”, the silver plated figure of Mercury holding a gilt bronze lidded torch ere with sculpted rams heads resting on a rockery peak containing a brass movement with enameled dial inscribed “Courvoisier & Comp.” on a carved marble column with gilt bronze cartouche.
