Late 18th/19th century, the movement marked ”JG (?) 11605”, clockmaker’s clock, painted metal figure of a clock peddler with two clocks, on an integral plinth sent into a later walnut pedestal, overall, 17.75” H x 10” W x 7” D, est:$800/1200. Literature: A very similar form figural clock is illustrated E. Bruton. ”Clocks & Watches”, Feltham, 1968, p. 80. Note: This figural clock illustrates the manner in which 18th and 19th century clockmakers advertised and sold their wares.

Condition report

The figure: 13.5” x 6” x 5”. With light wear, marks, scratches and rubbing to surface commensurate with age and use. Dirt accumulation overall. Some bending to pendulums in left hand of figure. With one hand off and retained, one hand lacking. Some wear and rubbed losses to enamel dial. Two keys. With pendulum. The working condition of the clocks is offered is unknown and not guaranteed.
