Maranville’s Patent Drop Octagon Calendar Clock, William L. Gilbert, Winsted, Connecticut, c. 1870, with mahogany veneer case, 12-inch painted zinc dial with Roman numerals and marked Patented by Galusha Maranville, March 5, 1861, month aperture at the top, day of the month indication on outer ring, apertures reveal a rotating dial for day of the week, moon hands, transfer printed lower glass, printed maker’s label and eight-day time-only spring-powered movement, ht. 25 in.
