Patent Timepiece or “Banjo” Clock, attributed to Aaron Willard, Jr., Boston, c. 1815, in a mahogany case with gilded pedestal, brass side ornaments and bezel, rope molded frames enclosing reverse-paintings on glass, the lower with central eagle and shield depicting a War of 1812 battle scene and marked with the captain’s names Hull, Decatur, Jones and Bainbridge, eight-day brass weight-powered movement with “T-bridge” suspension and painted dial, (imperfections), lg. 42 in.

Condition report

Condition: frames and pedestal re-gilded; side ornaments appear to retain traces of original fire gilding;

both glasses are original; dial is excellent; finial period
