Mahogany Patent Timepiece or “Banjo” Clock by John J. Stowell, Charlestown, Massachusetts, c. 1825 7 3/4 in. dia. painted iron dial with Roman numerals and signed, John J. Stowell Charlestown, gilded rope-molded frames enclosing reverse-painted tablets, the box glass depicting Paul Revere’s ride and marked Paul Revere 1775, the throat glass flanked by brass side ornaments features the lantern from the Old North Church, eight-day time-only movement with step train, recoil escapement, pendulum, and lead weight, ht. 33 in.
