Mahogany Patent Timepiece or “Banjo” Clock, Boston, c. 1820, with gilded rope-molded frames enclosing reverse-painted glasses, the lower depicting The Capture of the Frolic and marked Patent and Jones, 7 1/2 in. dia. painted iron dial with “vertical” Roman numerals, eight-day time-only brass movement with “T-bridge” and through bolt attachment, powered by a lead weight and regulated by a pendulum, (repainted glasses, dial restored, replacement finial), ht. 35 in.
