Mahogany-cased Patent Timepiece or “Banjo” Clock, Walter Durfee, Providence, Rhode Island, with composite eagle finial, brass bezel over the painted iron dial marked Shreve, Crump and Low Company, Boston, rope molded gilt frames enclosing reverse-paintings on glass, the lower depicting the Boston Statehouse 1830 and pedestal below, all housing an eight-day brass weight-driven timepiece movement with dead-beat escapement, Geneva stop, maintaining power, front plate and lead weight stamped Walter H. Durfee Providence, ht. 42 in., (eagle finial reglued, losses to painted glasses).
